107” Seamless Paper Roll.

Just installed an Impact 3 seamless Paper Roll bracket system in my garage a few months back in February. The attached garage does not have heat or AC installed.
Purchased Savage 107” in Black, Fashion Gray and Super White. Noticed on White immediately and now on the Gray that I am getting a “ Quilted” texture, maybe five or six across on the paper when pulled down. The paper rolls have been extended and then rolled up through the chain system carefully. Maybe remove the Savage Leader Bar and cut paper several feet and see if that solves issue.
This system does not have an inner bar would slide inside the Cardboard roll. I did order one that will fit along with texture grip wrap when pressure is applied.
Looking for any experiences with this issue if possible.

I don’t know it this matters for you.. I always store my paper/vinyl backgrounds vertically. Never horizontal.

Unfortunately the garage’s highest point still will not allow vertical storage, unless slightly angled which is not desirable and a tripping hazard. driving intoSide walls are shorter than the long paper roll.
The feature of this system is not having to lift up a long roll of paper each and every time.
I did order two more Fotoconic 10 ft Aluminum Poles, broken into 3 pieces. Will need to cut on piece on each of the 10 ft pole to appropriate size. This will slide in and allow functionality of Chain drives with a soft Grip material applied to outside of Aluminum pole and to supports the cardboard roll. Hopefully this will solve the issue in the future.
Will order a clean gray role after I cut back and see if that has helped at all, most likely not.
The White I am not too concerned about yet as we light the white as well.

As you have found out, the cardboard tubes do flex and bend over the span.

I did order 12' Manfrotto aluminum tubes (they come in 2 pcs also like the Impact, so there still is a little flex, but when inserted in the cardboard it is not an issue. However you do need to use
cardboard tubes with any fabric backdrops, they will be affected by the sagging 2 piece aluminum.

I also used rubber tool drawer liner to give grip between the alum. and cardboard.

I’ve gone to home depot and bought a strong piece of metal tubing. No bow. Straight as an arrow. Some drilling on the end to fit the stand.

I wanted to do something like that, but I often do location shoots and didn't want to buy a truck to haul the 12 footer...
This way, I can bring 1 or 2 of the 6 foot sections and be covered...

Cut it and dowel it to fit together.

If you shop around locally I'll bet you can find a supplier of aluminum who stocks tubing, this way you can obtain a single piece with enough wall thickness to never flex and probably for a lot less money than buying from a photography equipment supplier.

Normally tubing comes in 22' or 24' lengths and most suppliers will make the first cut for free.

paper has memory. like your ass, if it remembers sitting all the time paper will remember "sitting". if it remembers sagging it will show waves. roll and unroll. create looser or tighter rolls when you let it out. just like your ass, use it and it will not remember sitting in one place. otherwise store it upright or in a place it won't sag.

I mostly store mine laying down and my butt doesn't sag at all.
