Urban environmental portrait. This little bird, eating immature sow-thistle seeds next to a busy street, was unfazed when I approached and shot from 3 to 4 feet away. It fled when another pedestrian moved by quickly, but it returned within a minute and resumed its meal. It looked like a goldfinch but with much more black than usual.

At one time there were 4 in a huddle. Fun to watch them interacting with each other. I'll see if I can resurrect anything from my photos later

It was quite comical to watch as the hen would stand on one leg then gingerly put the other down to take a step then quickly lift it, shake it and then put it back down again, move on and lift a leg again
I imagine the ground wasn't to its liking
