Same white pelican in B&W and a Topaz effect. I purposely darkened the bg to create more impact on the subject.

Just after sunrise, I was right under this Bald Eagle before I spotted it in the eucalyptus tree.

Thanks!! I got lucky. I was in a large open NWR hiking on the paths surrounded by canals and saw some activity in one of the mangroves, looked like a few mockingbirds. As I got closer I realized one of the "mockingbirds" was a shrike and he had JUST caught this hornet. And he was at eye level!!!

Ed each of those shots are very nicely composed.
Very attractive setting.
You certainly made the most of that encounter

Lovely capture of the male Superb Fairy Wren, Richard! The color throughout this sharp image makes it quite appealing

Way behind here and still catching up :-)
Many thanks Mike, much appreciated :-)

I like your artistic photography, Kirk! Both are very nice, but personally, the second shot with the light streaming in is my favorite.

Did a Christmas Bird Count in Carson City, NV and got a couple of nice raptors. Sharp-shinned Hawk (90% sure) and Merlin.

Some think that their features are unattractive, but I admire the purpose-driven structure of their face. We should thank the vultures for cleaning up our roadways !
