Question: Are pictures enlarged to 100% when they're posted here and is the exposure increased? Also, is it me? My pics look brighter here than in my software image. I had to go back and darken this shot to get it to where it is now. I didn't have to do that on another site. Not complaining really, just curious.

People view POTN on phones, tablets, laptops and desktops, with diverse color management settings. Programs sometimes use different settings even on the same device. So it gets pretty complicated. Everybody will see your images differently.

On my desktop, tones on POTN look very similar to the original that I posted. However, the POTN version is enlarged a bit. And hmm, I think the POTN version has darker shadows. Here is what I see. POTN on the left, Irfanview on the right. The original JPG looks similar in Irfanview, MSPhotos, Faststone and LrC. My display is calibrated.

A modest proposal - with 2023 fast approaching, should we start a new bird portrait thread called Post your 2023 Bird Portraits?

The current thread is only one and a half years old and already has 1425 pages with 21,367 replies. That is enough to slow posting response significantly. Maybe we should go to annual threads along the lines of the "Post your 20xx Landscapes" threads.

Just wondering what everybody thinks about that.

Here is a Blue Jay looking over its shoulder.

The Blue Jay looks great, Archie.

My input - for what it is worth, Archie - I would rather see Post your Bird Portraits (3) than an annually renewable thread - because when threads become dated new 'Posters' will be left wondering where to place their old pictures - I have found this a bit perplexing on other dated sites. Maybe simply Bird Portraits (3) This will be simpler for searching for the site. Just my thoughts.

Beautiful Jay photo Ed. They're very attractive birds.
Agree on your comments re new thread. But Ray.Petri idea sounds way to go. Doesn't time regulate it.

Always love the over the shoulder pose, Archibald
(I never can get blue jays to sit still in our woods)
Great color and detail in this beautiful setting.

As for the thread, anything that keeps this popular topic moving forward works for me!
