#1 is the Bush Stone-curlew or Bush Thick-knee, a large ground- dwelling bird with a wingspan of 55-60 cm. They can live for 20 years, sometimes more. They are a terrestrial predator adapted to stalking and running. It is a striking bird with a striking call that is a haunting, wail like sound that rises with a slight quiver, dropping at the end and often repeated a number of times in quick succession.

#2 is a Crimson Rosella.

Both taken on a recent trip to the Lamington National Park.

Topaz Denoise helped a lot with this shot. the subject seemed to really separate from the background after i was done.
