Very nice capture, Richard! I feel for the ol' dad in the photo. I remember what it was like having teenagers. There were definitely some trying times way back then. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, as I did with my entire family. And may 2023 brings you and yours good health and happiness!

Many thanks Mike, and yes we had a very enjoyable family get together

Both shots of the American Bittern are truly nice captures, Paul! I've often seen them, but never have I been able to get close to them.

This one was in a very playful mode and presented itself briefly between the pickets very neatly

Some more from down under.:-)

#1 is the Bush Stone-curlew or Bush Thick-knee, a large ground- dwelling bird with a wingspan of 55-60 cm. They can live for 20 years, sometimes more. They are a terrestrial predator adapted to stalking and running. It is a striking bird with a striking call that is a haunting, wail like sound that rises with a slight quiver, dropping at the end and often repeated a number of times in quick succession.

#2 is a Crimson Rosella.

Both taken on a recent trip to the Lamington National Park.:-)

Cheers

Dennis
