This Barred Owl was perched in a tree (trunk on right) about 12' off the ground. The unfortunate Red Squirrel had climbed about 8' up the trunk when it noticed the owl. The squirrel headed back down but as soon as it got to the ground the owl dove head first onto its prey.

A once in a lifetime experience. Excellent capture!
