Common Bronzewing [Phaps chalcoptera] is a medium sized pigeon found throughout most parts of Australia
It feeds on seeds and other vegetation, foraging on the ground and drinking water frequently.
Found on a back road in rather dark conditions today.
Beautiful birds that were once much more plentiful
The sound of them escaping in a flurry of wings is easily recognised if not observed
Very nicely captured, Richard! They certainly are an attractive looking pigeon. Love the green/yellow on their wings. I'm sorry to hear that these Common Bronzewing's have decreased in population numbers.

Congratulations on your first time seeing and capturing this beautiful Crested Pigeon, Neal! You certainly did a wonderful job of photographing it!
All four of the shots in this series, are terrific captures of the the snowy egret in hot pursuit, Kirk! You consistently capture different birds in unusual, but very interesting positions. That is a big part of your style, and it's really very nice!
Wonderful close-up capture of the Redwing, Cap'n! Nice sharp image.
Splendid close-up capture of the White-winged Dove, Tom! Everything about this shot is 1st-rate!
