The Northern Cardinal is the one bird species where the female is just as gorgeous, if not more so, than the male.

Your flamingos are so colorful. Lovely. The ones we have hardly have any pink or orange.

Thank you kindly Neal. Happy trails.

Very impressive capture of this juvenile Great Horned Owl, Paul! I can see that his ears are just starting to show.

Little Egret (Egretta garzetta nigripes (external link)) in breeding flush. Note the reddish lores, long plumes from the back of its head, and streaming plumes from its breast and rump. Incidentally, the slightly out-of-focus young Pied Heron is in transition from white-headed juvenile (like the very out-of-focus bird further back) to dark grey-headed adult plumage.

Excellent capture of the egrets, Pippan! And thanks for the interesting commentary.

A truly nice capture of these two Superb Fairy Wrens, out in the rain, Richard! When I saw the length of your rain drops, I kinda figured you were shooting at a little bit slower shutter speed. I always like seeing rain drops in peoples photos.

What a killer shot, Rob!

A couple shots from this morning at a new location south of me in Sarasota, it's a place called, "The Celery Fields." You're restricted in this particular area to shooting from a platform above the water. It's a very popular place for birders, so if you're in the area .......

These are both truly nice captures, Kirk. In California we don't have many Blue-winged Teal. But we do have a lot of Green-winged and Cinnamon Teal. Those little Sandhills surely are cuties.

Burrowing Owl - Gathering nesting material.
Burrows tend to make numerous twists and turns, with a mound of dirt at the entrance and an opening at least 4–6 inches wide. The owls often line their burrow with livestock manure, sometimes with feathers, grass, or other materials. Camera: Sony Alpha 1 March 11, 2023 Photograhed in SW Florida USA.
