What a beautiful, colorful shot of the Blue Jay, Steve! This image is pinpoint sharp, and very attractive.

Thanks for your much appreciated comments, Mike!

Tried to sneak in another attempt at bird photography today, this time, opting to try out the eos R. Didn't get along with it either. Don't eif I got a setting wrong or I'm just not good at this. One of the better images from the try. Went through ai servo which seemed worse, face / continuous (might be an ironic setting, focused on whatever). Lighting conditions pretty bright, decent iso (400) and shutter speed. Tried burst mode too and images seemed to get worse through the burst.

With and without an extender. And 300mm f/4L is

About a 100% crop of the in camera jpg (was shooting raw+l jpg) and good thing I did, probably wouldn't have attempted to process this.

Thanks, Mike. I hope you get to see some sandhill cranes someday, they're big and awesome.

Actually, Kirk...we get lots of Sandhills out here. I have photographed them frequently in the past.

Outstanding shot of the Carolina Wren, Bill! The especially like the composition of this image.

Great shot of these three Black-bellied whistling ducks, Bill. They've been renamed. I've always know them a Black-bellied, tree ducks. I wonder why their names were changed?

Thanks for the compliment Mike.
Yeah the Owls ears are beginning to show, to cool.:-)
They fledged so hopefully they'll stick around that tree a little longer.
