Rare for Florida, a yellow headed blackbird at the beach on the Gulf. He caused quite a sensation with the local birders and photographers as this species is usually not found in Florida. He seemed content browsing through the vegetation and sea oats at the beach

Nice one Ed. Always fun to get a rare visitor.

You capture both the Bar-shouldered Dove and the Peaceful Dove beautifully, Pippan! These are amazingly attractive birds.

Very nicely captured shot of the Dickcissel, Bill! Tack sharp and the low camera angle is really nice.

Lovely shot of the female Red-winged Blackbird! She's obviously doing a bit of home remodeling.:-)

These gorgeous Purple Gallinules are very photogenic...even though they have monstrous size feet.

Beautifully composed shot of the European Starling, aezoss! You captured his often missed beautiful colors very nicely.

Striking shot of the Reddish Egret, Ed! Very appealing capture.

What a beautifully captured shot of the Wood Duck pair, Rich! Very nicely posed, and the reflection on the water is super!

Thanks very much--Mike!

Warning: long post!

Nesting process of a male Golden-backed weaver (external link)

1. Carefully selects a perfect location which is near to school, supermarket and transportation

2. Sets the foundation for a cozy home. He begins the intricate process of weaving the first string of its nest, which will serve as the cornerstone for a safe and snug abode.

3. Some more

4. Building the perfect fit.
He constructs the first framework of its nest, starting with a carefully woven ring. The size of the ring is a key indicator of the bird's desired home size and sets the stage for the rest of the nest-building process.
QUOTED IMAGE

5.Quality assurance check!
He conducts strength tests on its nest anytime, ensuring that it's sturdy enough to withstand the weight of eggs and chicks.

6.Taking shape!
His nest is starting to take on its distinctive shape. It's amazing to see how the nest gradually transforms from a simple ring to a complex structure.

Above: It's hard to believe, but this complex nest is the result of just two hours of tireless work by the Asian golden-backed weaver.

7. Welcome to the city of weavers!

Great series!

Terrific capture of the Leaden flycatcher, Pippan! Very nice, sharp image.

Thanks LD, it was pretty dark under the tree it was in too.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Thanks LD, they are both so common we barely give them a second glance. They just look brown and grey respectively. But with both, when you look at them in detail, they really are beautiful birds.
