Beautiful, and your model must have stayed very still for you to be sharp at 1/80th.

Thanks Pippan.
Often they stand about in one spot, sometimes 5 minutes, but when 'on the move' they are fidgety and soon gone from each landing.
They're pretty predictable as to their flight path. I've a mental picture of it over a 300 metre circuit :-)
I'm ready for them and grab what's available as soon as they arrive as in this case.

Another great cutie!

Many thanks Sogs :-)

Handsome fellow even in non breeding plumage. Must be fun to have 20 of these around.

Thanks Ken . Yes he is.
It sure is a delight. I think all the clans on our farm must have come together for that

Two views of a Black-headed Grosbeak.

Very nice.
Different bird and colourful.
The first one strikes a very attractive pose

today there were about 20 of these beauties moving around. They sure do stick together and yet seldom all land on same spot together.

Does their tail change to breeding colors first?

These, some, males keep their tail colours year round. For those it never changes. I haven't noticed any intensity in colour change.
The head and neck changes on the males in most but not all. I've seen a fully coloured male around here but yet to get a decent shot

That's the way to do it! Well done.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Not sure of the ID. I think it's a non-breeding adult, least sandpiper.

Great shot! I'm leaning towards Black Bellied.
