Thanks. I'm not aware of any successful nesting on this platform, but I'm hoping these do ok.

In my opinion, male Oriental pied-hornbills have the most beautiful eyelashes among birds. These tiny feather-like structures are not simple hairs, but intricately shaped like snowflakes.

Thanks for the super nice comments, Mike, you have no idea how much I really appreciate the one on the gulls. I got into a habit of explaining such shots (calling them record shots) due to certain people's reactions to shots like that on other sites in the past. Apparently, some people are real sticklers for perfection and if I didn't say it was a 'record shot' they would critique the living hell out of it, to the point I had doubts about posting them for fear of having to explain myself once again. Not saying they're pixel peepers, but they are overly critical for shots on the web and not in a contest. My 2 C worth, and thanks again.

Here's what I think, Kirk. I have seen you post numerous pictures here on the POTN forums. You are without a doubt an excellent photographer. You don't have to prove a single thing. I believe that most people here would agree completely with me on that. I may be off base, but I really don't believe that people on these forums are sticklers for details. I think we all try to do our best, and some photographers are certainly better than others. I'm obviously impressed with the work of many folks here, but I've never had the impression that anyone was overly critical of shots on our forums. My advice is; just go out, have fun shooting, and post the ones you enjoy and like. As far as explaining your shots, a short description is definitely nice to hear. In addition to your photos, I think it's nice to know what you had to go through to get the shot(s). And that's my 2 C worth.:-)

Cool shot, Mike, I like a landscape like that with long shadows. It gives it more impact.
They're cute birds, too!

Many thanks, Kirk. I never thought about the shadows. I appreciate the input on that, and I'll keep it in mind.
