I think it was 2006 this beach was named best beach in the US. Ft. DeSoto, huh? Might have to be my FL winter destination then. Everyone here in WI takes a midwinter’s trip to somewhere warm, as 6 months of cold weather and being stuck indoors start to make one go crazy. If there’s birds there, all the better Heck yeah, nailed this shot! Tough customers, these Sandpipers. How close did it allow you to get?

I got into a habit of explaining such shots (calling them record shots) due to certain people's reactions to shots like that on other sites in the past. Apparently, some people are real sticklers for perfection and if I didn't say it was a 'record shot' they would critique the living hell out of it, to the point I had doubts about posting them for fear of having to explain myself once again. Not saying they're pixel peepers, but they are overly critical for shots on the web and not in a contest. My 2 C worth, and thanks again. I believe there's a forum on here for people to post and have their shot critiqued. If someone critiques a shot without the poster asking for it, in my opinion they're just A Holes. My signature line used to say "if you like the photo that's all that matters". And that's really all that matters. You, nor anyone else, have to justify anything. Of course it's nice when the poster takes the time to say what kind of bird it is or a description of the shot. Just have fun posting. Time waits for no one!

Amazing shots of the Oriental pied-hornbill, RAL! dI especially like your second shot close-up. Beautiful drake mallard shot, fotoi! The added yellow color to this Burrowing Owl shot really makes for a sublime image Tom! Well Ed, it's just a so so shot, but I thank you for the compliment. The Ospreys and the Snowy Egret are top notch, Kirk! My favorite is the Snowy Egret image. It's a beautiful, sharp shot, plus it made me smile. I agree on the Spotted Sandpiper, G88, and I also think it's an excellent shot! Oh my gosh...these are both crack'in shots, Matt! Truly awesome! Tack sharp close-up image, Hye5! Very nicely done. Thank you, Mike.
