K9Kirk Likes neck nibbling and soft growls in the ear More info | May 13, 2023 09:35 | #29585 sogs wrote in post #19518488 I believe there's a forum on here for people to post and have their shot critiqued. If someone critiques a shot without the poster asking for it, in my opinion they're just A Holes. My signature line used to say "if you like the photo that's all that matters". And that's really all that matters. You, nor anyone else, have to justify anything. Of course it's nice when the poster takes the time to say what kind of bird it is or a description of the shot. Just have fun posting. Thanks, sogs, that's what a friend of mine told me once, "All that matters is what you like. “You can’t stop what’s comin’; it ain’t all waitin’ on you—that’s vanity.” - Uncle Ellis

Love the lighting and soft colors in this one! If only the bird had cooperated and looked at the camera (they don’t take instruction too well, come to find out )Ft. DeSoto, huh? Might have to be my FL winter destination then. Everyone here in WI takes a midwinter’s trip to somewhere warm, as 6 months of cold weather and being stuck indoors start to make one go crazy. If there’s birds there, all the better ![]() Heck yeah, nailed this shot! Tough customers, these Sandpipers. How close did it allow you to get? the birds definitely come here in the winter and you don't have to shovel snow off your windshield ... just bird poop. Ha, kidding, they're good birdies around here, carry their own bags. “You can’t stop what’s comin’; it ain’t all waitin’ on you—that’s vanity.” - Uncle Ellis

I like his green eye. Amazing shots of the Oriental pied-hornbill, RAL! dI especially like your second shot close-up. Beautiful drake mallard shot, fotoi! The added yellow color to this Burrowing Owl shot really makes for a sublime image Tom! Well Ed, it's just a so so shot, but I thank you for the compliment. The Ospreys and the Snowy Egret are top notch, Kirk! My favorite is the Snowy Egret image. It's a beautiful, sharp shot, plus it made me smile. I agree on the Spotted Sandpiper, G88, and I also think it's an excellent shot! Oh my gosh...these are both crack'in shots, Matt! Truly awesome! Tack sharp close-up image, Hye5! Very nicely done. Thanks a bunch, Mike! Always glad to help with a smile. “You can’t stop what’s comin’; it ain’t all waitin’ on you—that’s vanity.” - Uncle Ellis

K9Kirk Likes neck nibbling and soft growls in the ear More info | May 13, 2023 09:48 | #29589 Lame-Duck wrote in post #19518400 Here's what I think, Kirk. I have seen you post numerous pictures here on the POTN forums. You are without a doubt an excellent photographer. You don't have to prove a single thing. I believe that most people here would agree completely with me on that. I may be off base, but I really don't believe that people on these forums are sticklers for details. I think we all try to do our best, and some photographers are certainly better than others. I'm obviously impressed with the work of many folks here, but I've never had the impression that anyone was overly critical of shots on our forums. My advice is; just go out, have fun shooting, and post the ones you enjoy and like. As far as explaining your shots, a short description is definitely nice to hear. In addition to your photos, I think it's nice to know what you had to go through to get the shot(s). And that's my 2 C worth. ![]() I agree 100% and this site has been great, I love it! No one has been a stickler here, just people on other sites that made me this way. I really appreciate yours and sogs, input, I feel "explanation free" once again and it feels like freedom. “You can’t stop what’s comin’; it ain’t all waitin’ on you—that’s vanity.” - Uncle Ellis
