These are both superb images, Mike! For being such an extreme shot, I'm truly amazed at how sharp and clear the second image is.

Thanks Mike! The APS-C Sony a6400 is terrific for stills but can't keep up with a 7D II or Nikon D500 for BIF. In its defense, it's only half the price.

Thinking back, I can't remember getting a hummingbird perched on a vertical support before.

Mike, I have the Canon EOS M6 mark II. It also is an APS-C body which does great for shooting stills, but flight shots are pretty rough. It doesn't compare to the Canon 7DII or the Nikon D500, as you pointed out. But it's small and easy to take everywhere I go. So I actually use it quite a bit.

Wow, Steve, this is a new one on me too! However, this is really an amazingly sharp, lifelike image! Excellent photography, for sure!

That's a beauty--Mike. I really like the ruffled feathers and lighting.

Yellow-throated Honeyeater ~ Lichenostomus flavicollis
endemic to Tasmania
It has a very piercing and striking call
for those interested here's a link to 9 recordings https://dibird.com …ellowthroated-honeyeater/ (external link)
No 9 is the call so common when their sound carries for long distances.
