Mike, I have the Canon EOS M6 mark II. It also is an APS-C body which does great for shooting stills, but flight shots are pretty rough. It doesn't compare to the Canon 7DII or the Nikon D500, as you pointed out. But it's small and easy to take everywhere I go. So I actually use it quite a bit.

It's really handy to have a portable powerhouse like the M6 or a6400. I haven't given up yet on using my a6400 for flight shots. I learned a few things recently that improved my a9 BIF performance that I haven't tried yet on my a6400. Living in the desert, I have to drive 2 hours to practice on something other than ducks, geese and cormorants. I'm going to do that tomorrow.

Well Mike, I wish you the best of luck on your upcoming shooting trip. Any new tips that you can share on BIF performance would truly be welcomed. I'm sure others here would agree.

Yellow-throated Honeyeater ~ Lichenostomus flavicollis
endemic to Tasmania
It has a very piercing and striking call
for those interested here's a link to 9 recordings https://dibird.com …ellowthroated-honeyeater/ (external link)
No 9 is the call so common when their sound carries for long distances.

Excellent work on both of these shots, Richard. They are sharp images and stand out nicely.

Beautiful shot, Rob! The camera angle and the lighting are just perfect. Your shots are always very thought out and creative.
