Great information thanks for sharing. Have you tried using the A9 in crop mode? Would you not be able to achieve the same without having to use the 1.4TC and losing a stop of light? I have actually assigned one of the buttons on the lens to crop mode but admit haven’t used it as such.

Thanks Neal. The a6400 produces sharper images than the a9 in crop mode. Plus at 24MB vs. 10MB you still have some room to crop if needed. Using crop mode (with, or instead of, a TC) is a valid option on an A1. I've already started saving my pennies...
