Lame-Duck I have indeed had pine nuts More info | Sep 11, 2021 16:57 | #4348 Both of these are incredibly nice shots, Paul! They are sharp, crisp images. Jorgac wrote in post #19282183 Burchell's Coucal. I was really happy to get this shot of a fairly common bird in these parts. Common yes, however one usually sees these deep in a bushy tree and to get this wet bird drying out its feathers in the open was quite lucky. What an interesting looking bird, Jorgac! Nice sharp image. Terrific capture! Awesome close-up shot, Tom! Superb sharpness and detail! Nice coot shot, fotoi! Both of these are stunningly beautiful shots, Steve! Terrific photography! Bianchi wrote in post #19282330 Beautiful sharp capture, Joe! These two are really lovely shots, Steve. It appears as though you have some great subjects in your back yard. LD, or Mike

Pippan Cream of the Crop More info Post edited over 2 years ago by Pippan. (3 edits in all) | Sep 11, 2021 18:46 | #4350 A male mistletoe bird squashing the juice from a berry. These tiny mistletoe birds are Australia's only member of the flowerpecker family. They primarily eat the berries of mistletoes (of which Australia has about 97 species). The seed passes through undigested and is left on the branch of a tree with a little package of fertiliser. It germinates and a new semi-parasitic mistletoe can then invade the host tree, eventually providing more food for these birds. Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.
