A Northern Parula kind of day at local park

Both of these are stunningly beautiful shots, Steve! Terrific photography!

Couple from backyard: Downy Woodpecker, Brown Thrasher

These two are really lovely shots, Steve. It appears as though you have some great subjects in your back yard.

Thanks for all those kind words, Mike! It's true, the backyard has attracted some really nice visitors.

Burchell's Coucal. I was really happy to get this shot of a fairly common bird in these parts. Common yes, however one usually sees these deep in a bushy tree and to get this wet bird drying out its feathers in the open was quite lucky.

Well done and good photo Jorgac. Coincidentally yesterday afternoon I got a shot of Australia's pheasant coucal (in non-breeding plumage). Like your coucal, also fairly common but usually furtively slinking around in undergrowth and hard to get a clear shot of.

Got a couple shots of this hawk this morning. I would appreciate any identification suggestions. It was about half again bigger than a Merlin.

A close encounter with a NZ Robin. Close enough to use my 17-40mm

Excellent image taken with an equally excellent lens. I once had a 17-40 but sold it to my cousin for pennies on the dollar because I went for a 16-35L while my cousin was just then re-entering into the realm of image memorializing. Yet I still miss that 17-40 lens and in fact I am monitoring the usual sites looking for a good used one at a price I feel is worth spending my camera gear funds on.
