Talk about a wrong turn, this Tropical Kingbird should be in South or Central America.

Theresa & Phil...these are both really nice captures! It is certainly difficult to catch them standing still.

Thanks Mike. I am reasonably confident that it may have been one of those once in a lifetime things. We have never experienced anything remotely close. There were a couple BG gnatcatchers that simply were not bothered by our presence.

Thanks, Ed! We're all wondering how it got here. It took 3 days or so to rule out similar Western and Cassin's Kingbirds, both of which have more extensive ranges in US...that was done when the bird was recorded.

I'm enjoying your excellent images from your trip. I feel like I'm reliving my trip to Ecuador, so keep 'em coming.

A great shot, Steve. And what a lovely setting.
I see you moved to a R5. How does it compare to the R6, if I may ask?

Thanks so much, Levina! Nice to hear from you. I had the R6 and the 7D ii, but I wanted a lighter backup for the R6. I gave some consideration to buying a 2nd R6, but finally I decided on the R5. It seemed the R5 gives best of both worlds. For times when I wanted extra pixels I could shoot full but to fill a frame better and to save on memory I could shoot in crop mode. It was like having the R5 and R6 in one body. Performance-wise I don't see much difference. Excellent images result from both. I'm still practicing with the R5 for BIFs so that's a work in progress. In the end, I'd say getting the R5 is a matter of budget. In most instances I think one could pick up either camera on the way out the door and come home satisfied. I intend to sell the 7D ii to partially offset the steeper price of the R5. I'm not thrilled about the CF tax, so I've yet to buy an express card (I don't do vids)...hoping for a good Thanksgiving sale to bring the price down.
