Talk about a wrong turn, this Tropical Kingbird should be in South or Central America.

Excellent shot of it. Love it when far-off visitors show up.

Thanks very much, Bill! Unexpected visitors have been seen in increasing numbers here. It's a real treat! No doubt.

Tropical Kingbird

That's an awesome shot. I just saw one in Colombia last month......wonder how it wandered so far north!!!!

These are all beautifully presented.
They're attractive birds.
Love the atmospherics in yours Ed.

Thanks so much, Levina! Nice to hear from you. I had the R6 and the 7D ii, but I wanted a lighter backup for the R6. I gave some consideration to buying a 2nd R6, but finally I decided on the R5. It seemed the R5 gives best of both worlds. For times when I wanted extra pixels I could shoot full but to fill a frame better and to save on memory I could shoot in crop mode. It was like having the R5 and R6 in one body. Performance-wise I don't see much difference. Excellent images result from both. I'm still practicing with the R5 for BIFs so that's a work in progress. In the end, I'd say getting the R5 is a matter of budget. In most instances I think one could pick up either camera on the way out the door and come home satisfied. I intend to sell the 7D ii to partially offset the steeper price of the R5. I'm not thrilled about the CF tax, so I've yet to buy an express card (I don't do vids)...hoping for a good Thanksgiving sale to bring the price down.

I hoped that maybe the R5’s AF locked on faster with BIF than the R6. The R6’s Eye-tracking AF is great but initial focus acquisition is noticeably faster on even my old 1D4. I found that out the hard way in the field where the R6 struggled. The R3 is almost here but at 6000 euro, too expensive. I might actually get a nice 1DXII to complement the R6; used bodies go for around 2000 euro here. Well, it’s an option. :-P

Thanks very much for answering my question, Steve.
