Time to eat birds in some parts of the world but in Australia's Top End (the north), the wet season is beginning and it's time for birds to take advantage of the subsequent explosion of growth and life. So here is a pair of shining flycatchers from this morning at Howard Springs. They appear to take turns sitting and I assume there are now eggs in the nest (it's a bit high to see) so I'm hoping to get some photos of the chicks when they hatch. Especially if they have the bright colours inside their mouths that the adults do. The pretty cinnamon, black and white bird is the female.

This poor female quail is obviously looking at her toes, trying to see where the cactus thorne got her.:-P This shot is really very appealing, Tom! I love this bird's pose.

Very attractive image, Ken!

Steve, both of these shots are excellent! I'm especially fond of the beautiful female cardinal. She stands out so nicely from the very attractive background.

Killer shot, Rob! Seriously.
