THE YARD BIRDS:

No, this is not with reference to the group of the 1960's and later 1990's! ;-)a

Being stuck at home in my study with a twisted ankle, I decided to set up my monitors to obscure me like a hide, and wait for birds to come to the recently disturbed garden bed outside my window. Here are the results, shooting through rather grubby double-glazing, hand-held and the birds were about 3.5m away.

I decided to compare the results of two camera and lens combinations: the new Canon EOS R5 with the RF 100-500L and the EOS 5DsR with the EF 70-300L. I set both to 300mm, f/8 and let them figure out the rest.

I have to say that they both hold up quite well under the circumstances. If you open up the first image to 100% you can see the ant that the bird has captured.

They look good! Through window glass. And people worry about the deleterious effects of expensive filters.
