male Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoo ~ Calyptorhynchus funereus
currently 6 have taken up temporary lodgings here and they wheel and screech about in the inimitable way. Beautiful birds to have but are very destructive on vegetation. They have stripped the bark off the upper branches of this Banksia (Bottlebrush)

Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos feed in small to large, noisy flocks. The favoured food is seeds of native trees and pinecones, but birds also feed on the seeds of ground plants. Some insects are also eaten.
