Lovely merlin shot, Steve! I'd surely love to get a crack at one of these fantastic little falcons. You've definitely posted some beauties.

Thanks so much, Mike! I was alerted to a spot just several miles from my house that is ideal for raptors. This season two Merlins have settled in. One is much lighter colored than the other (the darker one is shown here). When the darker one gets into dead or bare branches it's a challenge to see it. I've been trying to get them in flight but they're incredibly fast.

A young Emerald Dove, Chalcophaps longirostris. Despite being described as common and abundant in the texts, it's not one we see very often so even though the pose here is less than ideal, I thought I'd post it anyway. From the edge of monsoon vine forest just behind Casuarina Beach, north of Darwin.

After a nerve wracking week without a computer due to a motherboard failure I decided to rebuild, upgrade and do a clean install of Windows. This is just test to see if everything is working as it should be!

Thanks very much! Wasted almost a whole day trying to create a ISO USB Drive in a Macbook. One I gave up and borrowed a Windows laptop it worked first time! It is crazy fast now! Lightroom is much quicker!

Chestnut-breasted mannikins in late afternoon sun, conducting a safety assessment before flocking down to fill up on grass seed in preparation for roosting for the night. The white blob at bottom right is the moon.
