This is its cousin, the bush stone-curlew, at East Point, Darwin. They are mostly nocturnal birds (with an eerie, almost blood-curdling call) so it's a bit fortunate to be able to photograph them in natural light. Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.
