A few weeks ago I posted an image of a beach stone-curlew. This is its cousin, the bush stone-curlew at East Point, Darwin. They are mostly nocturnal birds (with an eerie, almost blood-curdling call) so it's a bit fortunate to be able to photograph them in natural light.

This is an amazing capture, Pippan. It's eye looks quite large. But being a night dweller, I can understand why their eyes would be somewhat larger.

Thanks very much Mike! Trying to make the most of having the 600mm for 20 days over Christmas. We could do with some sunshine here. Ever since I picked the lens up we’ve had very dull, overcast, grey and dark days!

Yep, that's it LD, I do wonder how they cope with all that light in the daytime. This was shot right at the end of the day though, so not too much light (and high ISO :rolleyes.
