Ended up creating quite a crowd of people snapping phone pics. Lucky I had the A1 in the car! IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/2mRmrG3Rockland Bald Eagle Fuji XT-2, XT-3, Sony A1, A7RIV, A9, and an OM-1

Pippan Cream of the Crop More info | Dec 18, 2021 15:23 | #7641 We (my wife, who's a much better bird spotter than me, and I) finally found some cooperative red-backed fairy-wrens, down at the bushy end of our road. These are tiny birds, even for fairy-wrens, at 4 - 5 inches. Here is the male in his attractive breeding costume ... and the female.Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

steveb108 Goldmember More info | Dec 18, 2021 17:56 | #7646 Pippan wrote in post #19319556 I keep looking at this photo. The bird looks translucent and glowing! Thank you for your comment, Pippan! I agree with your observation. I took scores of pics of females and they all have what seems to me to be a strange cast. The shot was taken at about -10°F, on a brilliant sunlit day in countrysde layered with 1-2 ft of snow. Similarly, pictures I took of Blue Jays in the same conditions rendered some of the most striking blues I've seen on jays.
