Thanks LD. Got lucky in that he perched very, very close by... I think he was curious about the hikers passing through. Close enough that I was able to shoot these with my 70-200 lens.

It occurs only along the coasts of southern Australia. Despite its name, the species is seldom seen on the Pacific coastline, and is far more common on the beaches bordering the Southern and Indian Oceans That's quite the bill! Time waits for no one!

Despite its name, the species is seldom seen on the Pacific coastline, and is far more common on the beaches bordering the Southern and Indian Oceans Wow...that's one big gull...over two feet long. Those are both very nice captures, Richard! Awe...this shot is golden, Richard! What a beauty! Phoenixuk wrote in post #19348365 Huge admiration for Richard, avondale87, for his pictures of the Superb Fairy Wrens. I got my first photograph of a Wren last week and it was very difficult! I could not get close to them no matter how careful I was and this picture is a huge crop so either more work needed on my photographic skills or a portable hide required! ![]() This shot turned out quite nice, Mark! I like the way you composed it. Phoenixuk wrote in post #19348368 This was taken in the New Forest in the south of England... well they call it The New Forest it was actually proclaimed a Royal Forest by William the Conqueror in 1079 so it's getting on a bit now! I guess they don't have much contact with humans so are pretty wary of them unlike the Robins who were put on this earth purely to act as photographic models! ![]() A slightly sharper Wren but still a huge crop. Of the two shots, I like this one better, Mark. However both are nicely photographed. Very nicely captured, Shortaction! Great sharpness and lighting here. "Ol' blue eyes"...Nice capture, Dave. Gorgeous shot, fotoi! The colors are fantastic, as is the sharpness! Tom, this close-up shot of the Curve-Billed Thrasher is beautifully composed, and very attractive! Excellent work. 4matic wrote in post #19348505 ![]() Terrific close-up shot of this black swan, Neal! It's so sharp with great detail. LD, or Mike
