Perfectly captured, Steve! You get flying colors in all respects with this shot!

Superb shot, Steve. Congratulations on this capture! I never even knew that came in yellow.

Thanks once again, Mike! I checked with an ebird reviewer for Maryland as to its rarity in these parts. He said very rare and that he'd not seen one. So, it pays to look out the kitchen window while preparing lunch!

This is a great thread. I love a good bird portrait, the tricky thing is getting them to pose in the right light for long enough!
Here is a portrait of a whisteling kite taken in the morning light at Fogg Dam, Darwin Australia. They often come and perch on some of the low trees and this one let me get close enough for this photo before flying away.

This was a first for me. Never seen a Yellow House Finch before.

Nice find. House Finch colors vary from yellow to deep red depending on diet. Apparently yellow ones are seen more often in the southwest than back east.

Thanks, Ken! I did a bunch of reading after seeing the variant. I concluded the same thing you did, i.e., much more likely to be seen in Southwest and Mexico

Well, I guess I'm going to have to start looking out the kitchen window more often, Steve.;-)a
