I’m waiting for spring so I can photograph some different kinds of birds in my pond, but those dreary winter days do have some appeal to them. Just got this quick shot after work tonight.

This is a excellent shot. Wish I had some Barred owls around me. Can't believe how well camouflaged it is in that tree.

Thanks for the kind words! There’s plenty of barred owls where I live (northwest of Kingston, Ontario). It’s not unusual to see them in my yard/on my property. If you’re ever out this way and want to try to photograph some just send me a pm, I could give you some good areas to check out. They’re actually pretty easy to spot once you get a sense of what to look for, they’re usually not very shy either.

I got lucky yesterday and managed a shot of this beauty, the Hairy Woodpecker. They are very skittish and tough to get around here.
