Nice shot Jimmy, I loved Pileated wp's! If, by chance, you find yourself a little unhappy with the lens wide open, maybe try it at f/8. My Sigma 150-600mm is night and day better at f/8 than it is wide open, especially at 600mm. Not sure if the 2 lenses are similar in that respect or not, but thought I'd mention it.

Thank you. The trickiest part is achieving a decently sharp focus. The water droplet has to be the right size and it has to be approached (focusing) from the right angle. The composition of the bird is simply a matter of the positioning the background in relation to the water droplet. Here's one more, this time with a bit more extended depth of field to bring out a threatening background.

Very much appreciate the tip, amyandmark3! Good to know about stopping down to f/8, will have to give it a go. So far I am impressed with the capabilities, but lots to learn and much practice needed as well.
