Thank you for the kind words and the help Mike.

Sorry Joe...I didn't finish my sentence. Musta fallen asleep at the computer. I meant to say northern mockingbird.

Both shot are really nice, Richard! These gulls are certainly larger than anything we have over here in the states.

Redhead drake on choppy water, photographed on Tuesday evening. . That was probably the last chance I'll have to photograph wintering waterfowl this year, as they will start making their way northward any day now.

With my old DSLR gear, I have a really tough time keeping the duck's eye in perfect focus when they are bobbing up and down so erratically on the rough water. . For every shot like this, there are dozens and dozens in which the duck's head and eye are a bit soft ... or a lot soft. . It will be a godsend when I finally upgrade to mirrorless gear, which should, hopefully, do the focusing for me so that I can concentrate more on keeping the subject positioned in the frame the way I want to.

About a dozen were busy flycatching and I managed to get one at eye level, in the open with a decent sun angle. The bug was a bonus.

Nice, sharp detail but soft texture which suits a photo of this species well IMO.

Thanks LD, I don't think I've posted a picture of one before because they are among the most common birds around here. My wife is a bit disgusted that I'd even bother photographing one!

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.
