My son has shown a lot of interest in bird photography lately and has been on POTN, looking at the bird forums. It is usually under my account, as our shared home desktop has me logged in all the time. I want to disable G&N on my account in case he wanders over there by accident - don't want to be corrupting young minds heh, heh...

I remember reading a while ago that this possible and wonder if one of the mods can help!

Thanks!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

insufferably pedantic. I can live with that.

The link near the bottom of this (or any) page, "Forum filtering," in small type, goes to a list of all the forums. You can disable as many as you like. Disabling can be undone, of course. I don't know of a more secure solution.

I think the only solution is to create your own account on the computer, and do not let your son access it. Basically you should not allow family members use your logins in any site - accounts here are not to be shared, at least.

Create your son his own account, and add parental control there.

If you just filter out the G&N, it can be easily be unfiltered when logged in to POTN. Filtering is not intended to be multiuser access filter.

We of course know little about how you are accessing any particular URL (Windows, Mac, Edge, Google, etc.) but in some of those combinations you can block sites, set up parental controls etc. In Windows for instance, some very specific settings can be used for filtering website accessibility once a child account is set up. See https://www.windowscentral.com …riate-websites-windows-10 (external link)

Things like this are why the capability of separate accounts exist. I would not want my little people to inadvertently delete something

Thanks, Pekka and John! Yes, I intend to get him to set up his own account. I will still disable G&N on my account as I usually just stick to the wildlife and landscape genres, just in case I leave myself accidentally logged in.
