Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This week the theme is Worn and Weathered. As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.

Let's see some things that have been affected by time, use and the weather... .. .

Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between Tuesday, after the new theme is posted and the following Monday by sunset (Whenever that is for you). Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snapshots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e. embedding them) but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: IMAGE POSTING RULES
That's it! Have fun! As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.
An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO WEEK INDEX

That's it!
Have fun!

I wondered who'd say it first.

My all time favorite pair of hiking boots. I've worn these for many years while hiking hundreds of miles in the Sierras and coastal mountains in all kinds of weather. So, you could say they are worn and weathered. :p

This is a lot sharper off POTN than on it.

Hiking these old weathered hills can really wear you out.

This is the first Church established and built in the county where I live, the year was 1838. It is in terrible condition and waiting on the next major wind storm to bring an end to it. My ancestors that I have first records of settled in this area in the late 1700's, may have helped build the Church as some of them are interred here from 1837 to 1922. The grave marker is one of my ancestors, it looks to be 1837 as the year of passing. A cousin of mine owns a farm behind this Church that has the first road in the county running through the farm. I have walked this old road and at one point found where it divided around a huge White Oak tree that is still there and alive today. We joke that it must have been the first dual lane road as well. Most of my family, which is rather large, are still located within 10 miles of this old building. As the area was settled further it was the rule to have a Church and school every three miles, I so happen to live near the 2nd Church and school straight North of the one pictured here.

Very interesting. Great pity it hasn't been preserved, though it looks like the ivy is trying. Thought Baptist or Methodist "meeting house" by its simple design - though two front doors! And what a great connection you have to "place".
