You’ve put Richard off coming to visit us. avondale87 wrote in post #19268149 Interesting again thanks Ray Certainly a large building Certainly seen some changes, but couldn't work out the narrative in that link As well as fancy lighting from 3,000 colour changing LEDs The reaction from people is total amazement. They are coming into something that looks like it used to in 1932 Seems at odds with each other. I had difficulty finding a good historic. This pub is situated on a busy cross road. I’ve passed this pub 3 or 4 times a week for very many years but have never been in and I only took notice to take this picture - funny, init? drsilver wrote in post #19268196 This is a great series. Thanks, dr. But I am only scratching the surface, with some looking so dilapidated they would only be record shots for history, but having said that, I suppose even those have a valuable place in history. Ray-P

The method that was most common was to have a ring at the top of the ramp and the rope was secured to that, then it was passed under the barrel and back over the top. That way the dreyman had a 2 to 1 mechanical advantage and the barrels could be easily managed. I would think that a 'hogs head' would take at least 2 dreymen? I will get a photo of it IF I remember My ambition for a good while is to grow old disgracefully. So far my wife tells me that I am doing really well!

They are nearly as bad as cigars ![]() Come on, John, just imagine yourself driving along the open road on a lovely summer’s day, one hand on the steering wheel and the other elbow resting on the open window with a fill of Balkan Sobranie in in your pipe, and then when you do get home you pour out a nice vintage Sherry and light up a nice fat Havana cigar.
