Just amazing clouds!

I should have been viewing from my front yard instead of the back as a friend shared a video today he took with his cell phone of a Tornado touching down SE of my house. It took a path through hay fields that did not cause any destruction and missed the nearest town by half a mile. A near miss is a good thing!

I've seen mammatus clouds (external link) mentioned but never seen any in real life. Maybe we don't get that kind of weather here.

PRONOUN ADVISORY: OhLook is a she. | A FEW CORRECT SPELLINGS: lens, aperture, amateur, hobbyist, per se, raccoon, whoa | Comments welcome

Well, let's just say, I won't be shooting a lot of birds with this camera :p
First, I had to find the camera. Then I had to find the manual.
Charge the camera. Look about for something to shoot...

It's been hot this last week, ranging from 124° down to 118° and a low of 95° at dawn.
Sort of record breaking. There are no flowers as they are all dead

But, I did see a humming bird today ...
at least the leaves are sharp :-P

Ta Da

.
It's such a beautiful location. What is your main subject that you are trying to photograph?
.

.
The two species that only live at high elevation, in rock piles - American Pika and Hoary Marmots. . Both are truly alpine species.

Pika are one of my very favorite animals of all. . But when I was there the other day the one I attempted to photograph never strayed far from the safety of his den, so I didn't get any close ups. . If I could spend more days there, right by his den, then he would eventually get used to me and become rather tame and cooperative. . But that takes time, and the place is an hour and 20 minutes away so .....

The Marmots, on the other hand, were rather cooperative, and in addition to portrait opportunities, they gave me this little pushing exchange - a playful battle - against the snow background.

Keeping these attached images rather small because they are not "point & shoot" images, and I don't want to intrude too heavily with off-topic stuff.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".
