AA batteries put a charge into a power capacitor after the Voltage is stepped up from 6v to hundreds of Volts. How fast/slow the batteries fill the capacitor has absolutely no effect on the output of high voltage to the flash tube...that is FIXED by the characteristics of the capacitor. Is this (yellow coloration) something you are experiencing or are you just inquisitive?

Jun 19, 2021 21:58 | #8 I'm very much a tadpole when it comes to using the flash. I have had one for many years but it lives in the bag about 363 days of the year. Pulled it out today to toy with it, noticed the extended charge cycle time, and possibly a yellow tinge to some of the photos. Possibly. The color tone of the light would alter depending on the angle of the head, bounced vs direct, etc. I'm sure the bounced light was picking up the color of the wall paint, but it got me wondering if weak batts could be a factor in the color cast. .
