Neck strap style OR over the shoulder style.

How do you wear yours?

The poll has 3 choices:

1. over the neck so the camera hangs to your front
2. over the shoulder so the camera hangs to your side
3. cross chest / over the shoulder so the camera still hangs to your side and cannot slip off your shoulder

Comments are welcome in addition to your vote.

If you wear something else you are welcome to post a comment on that.

I will go first. I prefer cross chest and with a really wide soft strap for comfort.

I have three Black Rapids. The original (not really using anymore), the Sport Breathe (external link) and the Backpack Breathe (external link) (my mostly used one). I also have the Peak Design Slide (external link) that I use when not carrying a long lens.

This is why I use Peak Design straps. The length is instantly adjustable.

If I'm carrying 1 camera, I'll probably sling it over my shoulder for short transport and wear it over my neck while shooting. If I'm going to do more than a little walking, I'll lengthen the strap and go sling style.

If I'm carrying 2 cameras, I'll do 1 sling style and 1 over the shoulder. If I need to hoof it on foot, I'll do sling on both, bandolier style.

3. Cross-shoulder

Op/Tech strap with peak-design connections.
One on top left of camera, the other on tripod mount on bottom.
(can't stand anything near the top right corner to interfere with shutter and back-button focus buttons)
Also, right side of strap is under right arm for carrying behind body and quick access to shoot.

Canon 7D Mark 2 with Canon 400mm f/5.6L prime lens.
Cheers

On the neck, if I'm taking pictures.
Over the shoulder if I'm with child or/and dog.

3 and I use Lumalabs ORIGINAL cross shoulder strap - discontinued. Best I have ever found. Bought 3 so I would always have them.

Typically on one shoulder, switching from one side to another to balance the wear on the body during a long day of walking about.
Occasionally, when falling-off-shoulder frequency is too bothersome, across the body
Never over the neck; I wrap the strap around the wrist in case I lose grip of the camera as I shoot.

OpTech Super Classic...just wide enough and soft enough, not as thick or as wide as the Pro strap

I mix it up. For casual shooting around the neck. If I'm in a crowd I'll sometimes cross chest so I can protect it with an arm. When I'm hiking I used a chest mounted harness (cotton carrier).

When I have just the camera and attached lens, usually the Canon 5D4 and 100-400mm zoom, then I have it hang from my neck on the original Canon strap.

Why?

Because it is more comfortable for me to have the weight hanging from my neck than it is to have it hanging from either of my shoulders. . Many people say that having the weight hanging from their neck is uncomfortable, but I just don't get that because to me it is more comfortable that way.

But when I have a messenger style bag with the camera body, the 100-400mm, another lens or two, a teleconverter and an extension tube, spare batteries, along with a quart of water, snacks, and other miscellaneous gear, then I prefer to have the messenger bag hang by its strap from one of my shoulders and across my chest so that it hangs on the side opposite of the shoulder it is hanging from. . And then I alternate shoulders ever 20 minutes or thereabouts.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".
