I am still in using Canon EOS EF body and lenses but will switch to RF system and have heard and read most people using 85 2.8 macro lens. In EF I mostly shot macro with 100 2.8 so what are differences between EF 100 and 85 RF? Thank you.

Jul 13, 2021 14:56 | #4 The new RF 100mm f2.8 macro just started shipping late last week and it sounds like it may be hard to get in stock. It offers 1.4x magnification vs. the older EF 100mm macros offering 1:1 macro. It also has an SA control ring which is allows control over the background blur and its shape. Not sure how many people will use the SA ring for macro but the 1.4x magnification plus IS in a native mount will certainly be useful. There's a new 100L for RF, but it's hard to get and very expensive. Taylor

Jul 13, 2021 16:31 | #6 I would second this I have been using my old canon 100mm f2.8 on the R5 has worked very well once I changed lenses drive when AF impossible setting to "ON" vs. the default off. In the default off it would fail to focus occasionally and give up. Once I changed that setting it has worked very well. Jul 21, 2021 07:05 | #7 Just an update I was able to get the RF100mm f2.8L macro via best buy a week ago. I have been very pleased with it, the auto focus is noticeably faster than my old 100mm non L macro. I have not tried out any of the SA adjustments and have only take it out once so far but I am really enjoying it.
