The pier shot is unimpressive, I think you needed a wider angle lens and place more of the pier into the shot. A Polarizer would've help bring out more of the sky giving it more detail.
The 2nd shot is better, but I think the orientation is wrong I think it would look better in landscape. The camera should be closer to the building and focal point should follow the Building out.

Hey lostdoggy, Thanks for looking. I had a polarizer on my lens. It was just overcast. Even PP didn't help much.
On the lighthouse, I was right next to the building, But what do you mean by focal point should follow the building out? I'm new.But lay it on me cuz 'm trying to learn.

Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology so don't quote me on this!!!

1st let me say that I did know you were trying to capture the lighthouse. With that said then it should be in the portrait position. The focal point should be the lighthouse but what I saw was the side of the building and it never left there. That is why I didn't see the lighthouse. So if the intent was to lead the viewer toward the top of the lighthouse then you need to stand further from the base of the build and make the top of the building stand out as the focal point so that when I look from right to left I see the lighthouse as the main subject. Now I'm no pro just my $0.02

Hi lostdoggy, Thanks for the input. It is much appreciated. A while back I posted a lighthouse pic. It was dead center and basically was boring boring. So I was trying something different. Now that you mention it, I see the WALL first too and it's very prominant. Well back to the drawing board :)

First shot just has nothing to look at on the right side. So, it is not really working for me.

I agree with the above comments on the lighthouse. Also, the cars and the person on the bike are distracting. Nice try though.

Ist one. Sky dull...reshoot at sunrise/suset? Crop out right hand 1/3 of picture?

2nd one. I like it. Great colours. Perhaps emphasis would have been on the lighthouse more if shot from the street where the motorcyclist is. But include the wall still. Haha...you have to go back and reshoot...like I've done on a subject today...for the third time...costing me a fortune in time and gas!

Don't use "save for web". Use "save as" and select jpeg with a quality of 10. Your pictures will look 10 times better beachgirl.

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.

I re-saved my other post of the beach/light house. I originally save it @ quality 8 and had a lot of JPEg artifacts. So i re did it and saved it at 10. Check it out and let me know if you see a difference. I posted it in CC title Howz the sharpness.Thanks.BG.

Cosworth, I don't need to use save for web? So when I resize and save for posting just use save as? I will do this. PSE3 almost always wants to save as 10. So I won't change this either. Thanks for your help.

When you do it that, it also preserves the EXIF data too.

Meatyo, When I resize, save as, the file size is to big to post. So how else do you lower file size.
I'm so confused right now My questions don't even make sense to me LOL.

Another way is to use a photo hosting site like photobucket and make sure in your option select 512KB Max and just copy and paste the link in your post. It will also help take the load of this forum's server.

Hi, I just put the link to photobucket in my signature. Could someone tell me if it is right. Can you view my snapshots? I can't really call them photographs yet.;) Let me know if it takes you to the right place. THANKS.
