Using a Canon Pro 100 since 2014 ... connected with USB cable. ( Win 7 and now Win 10 )

Moved computer location and would like to setup wifi.

I have the regular and the xps drivers installed.

Pressed the bluetooth button on printer until it blinked once then let go .... then went to router and pressed the wps button and held until the wifi started blinking.

After about 5 seconds the router wifi stopped blinking and all lights on printer blinked and then stopped ... guessing it made the connection.

Tried printing with the xps driver and no connection was made.
Looking at properties, the xps driver is showing the port is setup as usb ( same as regular driver )

Not sure how to get this fixed at this point ... appreciate any advice ( besides calling Canon )

Bluetooth and WiFi are very different.

Try confirming the network settings (as described in the link) as that will show whether the printer found the network.

  1. You need a driver specific to the printer! Every model printer has its own driver (sometimes that driver supports multiple models of printers.
  2. Establishing WiFi between printer and router merely established CONNECTIVITY between the two. The device which sends jobs to the printer needs to have that printer driver on that device.
  3. Canon does have a printer app that can be installed on a smartphone, so it can print via smartphone-to-printer via Bluetooth.
  4. PCs on the network and print wirelessly, via WiFi but each PC needs to have driver software for your model printer.
  5. 'Blutooth' is NOT the same as 'Wif'i.

I have not tried to establish connectivity between a Canon camera and my Canon printer, to try to print photos directly, so I am unable to address that usage...I usually just bring photos into the PC ahd print from there.

Aboiut XPS...

"Installing the Canon XPS Printer Driver
Canon's photo printers are designed to work in conjunction with Canon DSLR and digital point-and-shoot cameras, but may not be packaged with the XPS printer driver. You can locate updates to your printer's software, including XPS printer drivers if available, on Canon's product support website. Check the product support website periodically for updates or patches to the XPS printer driver and other printer software."

Good start!
Now, install the drivers-
I saw in your original post that you had drivers installed, but they may be older (I saw Win 7 listed, maybe XP?).
You can get them here: https://en.canon-cna.com …os=windows%2010%20(64-bit (external link))

Thanks for the link.

Would you know if the driver can be installed on the same system ( 2x )
one to work as USB and one to work with WiFi ?
( would not want to lose my usb connection )

I'm pretty sure it's only one or the other at a time, but you can switch. The first link I gave you mentions a factory reset, but you'd have to go through almost the whole install procedure again. You might be able to use the WiFi until you need USB, then plug in the printer and let Windows find and use the USB portion of the driver. It's not going to be as easy as flipping a switch. The programmers assume people use one connection or the other.
