How are you importing the data? from the camera, or reading a card? Are all the images bad? Some simple things are to change the card and see if the problem still persists, or read the card a different way. What software are you using to open the images?

1) View images on the camera's rear LCD. Do they appear ok?

If yes, your method of file transfer is corrupting the files in-transit. Card reader, etc...

2) Do they show the same artifacts on the camera LCD?

If yes, then your card may be having issues. Try another card.

3) Does the issue still show up on the rear LCD?

If yes, then you may have an issue with the 7D2.

Thanks for the advice. yes it also shows up on the camera lcd screen. was shooting great for a couple of hours & then this happened. tried changing cards, changed lenses. took out & reinstalled battery, reset to factory settings, nothing worked. Camera store says its internal in camera. not sure if its worth putting any money into it, has to be shipped back east & they figured it wouldnt be cheap. Have to seriously think about a new 5D or R5

Yes with multiple cards and resets and the images still like that way on the screen, it is a camera issue. Might be the card slot/board though which isn’t terrible to replace.

Based upon my own experience with a failed 5D(c), a new main circuit will be about $300, so an alternative of scrapping your failed camera and looking for a newer model used camera with fewer total exposures than your failed body might be the way to go.
I chose to fix my 5D(c) because the 5DII was not desireable, and the 5DIII was still too expensive even used, as the 5DIV had not yet been launched.
