I posted an earlier version of this image elsewhere, where it was correctly identified as looking like a frame from a Vincent Price film :) This is my final (I hope). The holiday home of Earl Grey (of tea fame) on the Northumberland coast. A very well photographed building, so much so that I usually just walk straight past it, but the sky was good that night so I thought I'd give it a go. I turned on the light in the house with Photoshop. My colour vision is extremely weak, so I hope it's vaguely light-coloured - I spent forever googling RGB codes for lights.

Sony RX10m4 with a cheap ten stop filter - wish I had taken the 16 stop so I could have got a version with a completely smoothed sea, but never mind.

Critique away :) I've looked at it so long now that I have no idea whether I still like it or not. I think there's maybe a bit much sky and it could use a more horizontal aspect, but I present it as close to a full frame (straightened) as I can.

A more horizontal version, in case it works better that way

I generally like wide.... but in this one.... the skies really add.... like it better. Too bad I have to view it on a laptop...I am sure its wonderful printed.

I like them both, but would pick first one for the sky.
Sea or sky, both have ability to lift any image/scene.
In the first one the sky is rather dramatic (more of it) , just as any sea can be.
I like that for the drama in the sky and the placidness of the sea if that makes sense.

My 2 bobs worth from purely observing it as a beautiful scene, not from a photographic excellence exercise.

Thanks both. I prefer the full frame myself, although I'm not sure the extra sky adds a great deal and the composition is probably stronger with the crop.

One of those ones that you look at so many times that by the end you're fed up of it and don't know whether you still like it or not, I'm sure we all have plenty like that :)

Very nice, and yes, full frame for me also.
