not really "portraits" like most would define and not necessarily my best. im sure a lot of photos posted arent really the person's best. this is sharp, reasonably lit and shot with a 24-70f2.8L which IS a zoom

I think you capture them well :D

However, you can make it even better if you can pick the background with less distracting objects such as wall, empty ground .... So those two could be popped and become domain in the frame.

Or, alternatively, you can use photoshop to remove some unwanted objects or try to darken the background.

Hope they are not too picky, otherwise, it looks good to me.

Agreed this was an unplanned shot……but still not a reason to not try and improve it. A heavy vignette or subject selection with a background exposure decrease in Lightroom would help to bring the focus to where you want it…..both just a couple clicks and less than a minute to try. If it doesn’t improve the image you still won’t be out much time or effort.


Canon 5D mk IV, Canon 5D mk iii, Canon 5d classic, Rebel XTI 400D 18-55 kit lens, Canon EF 85mm 1:1.8, Canon EF 17-40 F4L, Quantaray 70-300 1:4-5.6 LD, Canon 70-200 F2.8 iiL, Canon EF135 F2 L, Canon 200 F2 L, Tamron 28-75 1:2.8 , 2 alien bee 800's, 430 EXii, 580 EXii, rectangular and octo softboxes, assorted umbrellas, portable backdrops, radio triggers and still adding.............
