Due to excessive power consumption.

I wonder if individual components will be next.

There was a thread on this in another forum. As I understand it: Like car manufacturers certain states have energy specs that electronic devices must conform to. Those states like CA have those requirements in place so that big manufacturers must comply to be certified for sale within the state. A DIY builder can buy the parts and assemble their own though.

Yeah, CA is getting very strict on environmental issues. In 2 years the sale of gas powered lawn mowers, leaf blowers, and back-up generators
will be banned. In 2035 no new gas automobiles can be sold. Going all electric.

Is a high end graphics workstation OK then? Stupid laws. You can run a swimming pool pump and Air Conditioning all day in your huge house, use massive amounts of electricity but some 20 year old in a tiny apartment can't have a gaming PC.
What it you have a Solar powered house and are not even on the grid?

Is Tesla going to build riding lawn mowers?

Those are very good points and I agree. Some of these laws are ridiculous.
That's why I fear elected officials may target individual computer components.

Before the gas lawn mower ban starts, I'm going to buy 2 new gas mowers just to have on hand.
And before 2035 buy a new gas engine car. Unless the all electric cars are much improved by then.

With auto-pilot I hope! :-)

I switched to a battery operated lawn mower 3 years ago and I'm so glad i did. It's a push mower that's lighter so it's easier to push, doesn't require pulling a rope, I don't have to mess with gas and ever change oil or run it out of gas at the end of the season and it's so much quieter.

That is probably fine if you have a small yard, I have a V-twin mower and it starts with a key, it also gets used for grading and moving snow. I can't imagine trying to mow a large lot with a push mower. Places like schools, parks and golf courses can have huge lots that need mowing.

Most of my neighbours have switched over to a robot lawn-mower, usually one in the Husqvarna Automower line. For the time being I'll keep my trusted old petrol-powered models and instead of upgrading in that manner buy Canon glas when needed ;-)a

Oh no I guess I'll just have to get stuff from Nevada like I do with all the other fun stuff CA has banned.

I dont get the banning of sale of gas cars in California. Do they think that in 14 years they'll actually make our power grid capable to handle the load it will have on it when everyone is charging their cars?
The grid can barely handle a hot day and now they expect that it will be able to handle that and electric cars in 14 years?
Especially considering that California's infrastructure is about 20 years behind where it should be today.

More grandstanding to make politicians egos bigger while doing nothing but screwing over the average citizen

How many batteries would you need to mow lawns all day with it? And how many for the edger, weed wacker, and leaf blower running all day too?

I just have a typical 1/3 acre residential lot and I can get it mowed with 1 battery and typically takes about 35 minutes. The battery is rated for 40 minutes so it's perfect for me. Definitely not for everyone.
