Don't you know you'd be better off sitting on a bus full of homeless people for an hour to take your kid to the doctor?

Just occurred to me with that post...if they do away with cars, there will be even more people without a place to live.

The whole carbon footprint/green house emissions cover such a broad range of industries open to legislative maneuvers. Head spinning just how much Gov't intervention can come about under the premise it is to better improve our living along with being eco friendly. The ban on plastic bags, straws and all that other we've had here. Many of the finishing chemicals for wood are not EPA approved for CA. It is a hot mess because of all the environmental concerns. CA seems to run on a different course than other states do.

That's not to say I desire to exhaust the resources and create a toxic environment for future generations to live in either. Big industry ties into politics and for consumers we have to take that ride.

Kind of scary. Of course our elected officials know what's best for us. Right?

Here in Los Angeles our elected officials want to start congestive pricing. That means if you drive on certain roads
or freeways at certain times, you will be charged a fee. If you drive to work, or pick up the kids from school, or
visit a doctor, you may be charged a fee. Isn't that wonderful?

I believe London area/UK has had such fees for years.

What if I'm on a desert or mountain road with a flat tire and the tire repair kit can't inflate the tire - I'm stranded.

We have purchased RAV4 Hybrid. Prius on any unpaved road is wrong fantasy.

I mean a paved mountain road, not off-roading. Far away from towing services.
The Rav4 is another vehicle on my consider list.

This has zero to do with climate change and everything to do with greedy politicians dreaming up new ways to fleece the public. Plastic bag fees, straw fees, and don't get me started on the Cali "bullet train to nowhere" scam.

I thought Tesla or someone had an option for that. But if it takes days to fully charge an EV from 120v power, how long is a reasonably sized solar panel going to take? Maybe they'd be good for powering the electronics if your battery were completely dead in the middle of the desert.

About 8 days from my rough calculation

E Cars are an interesting concept, they can technically power your home in case of a blackout, the battery capacity of a Tesla is pretty darn big.

Prius does fine on muddy or gravel roads (even big pot hole roads that are in Atlanta). I find it does fine on mountain roads too with traction control. I wouldn't want to try off roading where there's bigger rocks or chance of floods though...has fairly low clearance.

I believe London area/UK has had such fees for years.

Well US has had fees for driving on certain roads or at certain times. Ever since I've moved to Atlanta, I've seen toll roads (and many other places have tolls on highways). When I first moved, state highway 400 (major artery for N Atlanta) was a fixed toll road (for generating state revenue...then we had a governor end it). Now we have some highways no longer having the HOV be a free fast lane for vehicles over 1 person, but an EZ pass that works like other highway tolls. So even GA, which isn't climate conscious, has had pay roads that offer the incentive of quicker travel times.
