Okay ... in honor of the challenge number, post your dark and foreboding images. Anything goes, but remember Rule # 7.

Edit: Really sorry for the short notice. Hoping for some interesting images.

This challenge begins when posted and ends on Monday, August 2nd at midnight GMT. Winner of this challenge will be announced shortly thereafter.

Challenge Rules:

2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size: Please visit Image Posting Rules.
4. Post Processing: Do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting: ONE PHOTO per photographer per challenge. List camera model & lens used. Post brief EXIF data: ISO, shutter speed and aperture.
6. Commenting: No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7. Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.
8. Have questions, PM me.

Thanks everyone for some awesome images with not a lot of time. They were all in “the spirit” of the theme.

Ltdave – nicely framed and dark.

Eidelweiss - That old house certainly evokes a foreboding of fear.

rwmson – Love me some creepy-crawlies

infrared guy – image easily makes the hair stand up on one’s arms

dilorenzo1954 – Taken in context, certainly well done in this theme

Now, winners. I really wish there could be a tie; but there can’t.

Honorable mention goes to OldCrow. That face in the tunnel would definitely strike terror in those walking the tree lined path.

The winner this week has to be RDWP. Gargoyles have always had a special place in my thoughts of this type of imagery. A great snap for an evil, dark, and foreboding image.

Rob, let us know when the next challenge is up.

Thank you Jerry. Great shots all, and a perfect Beast of a topic - nice choice! My fiendly friends are watching over Notre-Dame in Paris - at least I hope they're still there.

New challenge is on the starting block at

See you there.
