This week’s challenge theme is taken from the Olympics motto: Faster - Higher - Stronger. Yours to interpret.

This challenge begins when posted and ends on Monday, 9 August at midnight GMT. Winner of this challenge will be announced shortly thereafter.

Challenge Rules:

1. Camera: Any DIGITAL CAMERA is allowed, not just DSLR.
2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size: Please visit Image Posting Rules.
4. Post Processing: Do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting: ONE PHOTO per photographer per challenge. List camera model & lens used. Post brief EXIF data: ISO, shutter speed and aperture.
6. Commenting: No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7. Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.
8. Have questions, PM me.
9. Have lots of FUN!

* THE WINNER ALWAYS SETS THE THEME FOR THE NEXT CHALLENGE, POSTS IT AND JUDGES IT - BE PREPARED!

Just to prime the pump: posting this fella's portrait - pretty common, but one of the fastest birds, measured at speeds of 150 km/hr.

shot long ago (1986) when i was stationed at Beale AFB, California. this is a scan of a wallet sized print. no idea where the negative may be.

since its not taken with a digital camera, this one is Out Of Competition but to help prime the pump.

Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird

faster than almost all other air breathing aircraft (sister aircraft Lockheed A-12 was a bit faster)
higher than all other air breathing aircraft
stronger because the titanium skin was hardened after each flight due to extreme heating and cooling

from the first night launch i watched, along with a co worker and the Deputy Wing Commander

Time to award the medals.

An honourable Bronze to Lt Dave, for (non-Digital) Faster, Higher and Stronger.

A tie for Silver, shared by Jerry and Don. Nice rides. I would gladly fly in any of these vehicles.

And the Gold Medal goes to Ed. You crushed it. Great subject, composition, lighting and muscles! (Anthem please.)

Congrats to all. Yours next Dilorenzo!
