Canon EF 500mm F/4 IS (version 1)

I am the original owner of this excellent lens, and it's painful for me to list it! I just don't use it enough, and with changing priorities for my family, I have decided to offer it up for sale.

ASKING PRICE REDUCED to $3,100.

The lens is truly in "near mint" condition due to very light use, and due to the protective Lens Coat that was installed the day I bought it from B&H back in 2009. The Lens Coat was removed for photos, and is included with the sale (this includes a Lens Coat end cap that fits over the hood). No scratches or dust impacting the glass. Perfect AF and IS operation. Body/barrel is almost completely free of marks, though there is some paint loss in the area of hood attachment. Please see the photos. No surprises--just a fantastic lens that has been babied.

Sale also includes the original Canon hard case and soft lens cap (mint, never used), the lens hood (of course), an upgraded (Kirk) lens foot, a Don Zeck lens cap (perfectly operable condition, but missing one of the four little grommets that attaches the handle to the cap), and the original shipping box.
Please note that the Wimberley sidekick in the photos is not included at my asking price, but we can talk about it if you are interested. I also have a Markins ball head and a Gitzo carbon fiber tripod that work wonderfully with this lens if a potential buyer is interested in discussing a package deal. On the negative side--I cannot currently locate the original lens foot and the case keys. I have them, but they are packed away somewhere, and I will ship them to the eventual buyer at my expense when I come across them.

This is pretty much a steal. Have you tried Fredmiranda?

Price seems reasonable to me. I think these type of lenses are full tilt right now with the RF stuff going on. I nearly gave away my 400mm prime.

very tempted......I'll have to mull over this one....
